Pearl white film has a soft shimmer that shifts a little across the curves, so it looks richer than plain white. It comes in gloss and satin, and some pearls show a faint blue, purple or gold tint. Upload a photo of your car to compare pearl, satin and plain white on it.
Both are white. The finish is what changes.
A bright white with a gentle shimmer and paint-like shine.
A softer sheen with the shimmer still showing on the curves. A popular modern look.
Looks white on flat panels, with a faint tint on the curves and edges.
Solid white with no shimmer, in gloss, satin or matte. The simplest and longest-rated option.
Examples from maker ranges: 3M 2080 Satin Pearl White SP10, Satin Ghost Pearl SP280, Satin Frozen Vanilla SP240, Gloss White Gold Sparkle GP240, Gloss White G10 and Gloss Light Ivory G79; Avery Dennison SW900 Gloss White, Satin White and Diamond White; TeckWrap Satin Pearl White ECH01.
Pearl films can look different from factory pearl paint, which is often made in several layers. Hold a sample next to the look you want.
Pearl and sparkle films have a direction, so the installer should lay every panel the same way.
Avery Dennison rates SW900 white up to 12 years on vertical surfaces and 3 on the hood and roof, pearlescent films up to 5 and 2, and Diamond films up to 3 and 1 (data sheet revision dated 03/10/26). Ask which class your film is in.
Wash by hand with a soft mitt, clean tar and bug marks soon, and avoid wax or polish on satin film unless the maker approves the product.
A picture helps you choose a direction. These checks help you choose the actual film.
Wrap film looks different in sun, shade and under shop lights, and a small swatch looks different from a whole car. Ask the installer to hold a sample on your paint outside.
A pink or a grey from one brand is not the same colour as one with a similar name from another. Always give the installer the brand, the film line and the colour name together.
Cast films such as 3M 2080 and Avery Dennison SW900 are made to stretch over curves. Ask which line the shop uses and how long they expect it to last on your car.
Wrap goes over sound factory paint. Chips, clear coat peeling and old repaints can show through or lift when the film comes off.
Some states and countries ask you to report a colour change to the vehicle registry, and some limit mirror-like reflective finishes. Ask your installer or the local vehicle agency.
Save your before and after picture and take it to two or three local wrap shops. Tell each one the film brand, line and colour you want, for example "3M 2080 Satin Black" or "Avery Dennison SW900 Gloss Dark Green".
Ask each shop to show you a sample of the pearl white on your car, whether door jambs are included, and what the warranty covers. A picture of your own car makes it easy for them to see what you mean.
The tool draws an approximation of each colour and finish from a description. It is not the film maker's swatch, and screens show colour differently.
It is a preview, not a quote. It does not measure the car, check the paint or give prices.
Very shiny finishes such as chrome are hard to show: the reflections in the picture are invented and will look different on your street.
