How AI QR code art works — and why most of it does not scan
An AI QR code is a real QR code with an image painted through it. The generator conditions an image model on the actual QR pattern, so the finished picture keeps the light and dark regions a scanner needs. That conditioning is a dial: turn it down and you get beautiful art that no phone can read, turn it up and you get a readable code that looks a little more like a code.
Almost every AI QR tool picks one setting and ships whatever comes out. We do it the other way round. Your code is drawn at the most artistic setting first, then scanned by machine. If it decodes, you get it. If it does not, the pattern is pushed harder through the artwork and it is drawn again — up to three times. Only a version that has been read back correctly is ever delivered, and if none of them scan you are told plainly and charged nothing.
The practical consequence for you: simple scenes with large, high-contrast shapes survive the process beautifully, while fine detail at module scale does not. A mountain range or a marble texture works. A crowd of faces does not. Shorter content also helps — a long URL packs the pattern densely and leaves the artwork less room to breathe, which is a good reason to point art codes at a short link.
Static vs dynamic QR codes — which one should you print?
A static QR code stores your data inside the pattern itself. Nothing is looked up, no server is involved, and it keeps working for as long as the ink survives. That makes it the right choice for a WiFi password, a contact card, or anything you would be unhappy to see depend on a company still existing in five years.
A dynamic QR code stores a short link instead, and that link redirects wherever you point it. You can change the destination after the code is printed and see how many times it was scanned — which is what you want on packaging, posters and menus, where reprinting is expensive and the destination changes with the season.
The catch with dynamic codes across the industry is that they stop working when you stop paying, which turns your printed material into litter. AITwo does not do that. Upgrading unlocks editing and scan analytics again — it never unlocks the redirect, because the redirect was never held hostage.
Which QR code type should you use?
Match the code to the action you want from the person holding the phone. WiFi codes connect guests without anyone reading a password off a wall. vCard codes drop your full contact details into their address book in one scan. WhatsApp, SMS and email codes open a conversation with a message already drafted. Menu and PDF codes open a document. URL codes open anything else.
Social profile codes — Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, X — are worth using in place of a plain link because they open in the native app rather than a mobile browser, which is where follows actually happen. Payment and maps codes work the same way, handing off to the app that already has the user signed in.
For print, choose high error correction and the 2048px size. High error correction keeps a code readable when up to 30% of it is covered, scuffed or overprinted with a logo, and 2048px stays sharp at poster scale. For a website or an email signature, 512px at standard error correction is smaller and perfectly reliable on screen.

Do AI-generated QR codes actually scan?
Ours do, because we check. Each AI code is scanned by our server with several decoders and compared against your exact data; if it fails, the QR pattern is pushed harder through the artwork and redrawn, up to three times. A code that never scans is never delivered and never charged. Simple, high-contrast scenes survive the process best — fine detail does not.
How do I make a QR code for free?

Can I change the colour of my QR code?
Yes — every generator offers foreground and background colours, and there are dedicated preset pages for orange, blue, pink, rose, red, green, purple, gold, black, teal, brown and white-on-black. Colour combinations go through the same scan verification, so you cannot accidentally publish a code whose contrast is too low to read.
What size should I download for printing?
Use 2048 × 2048 px with high error correction for anything printed — posters, packaging, menus and table tents. How do I scan a QR code with my phone?
On any iPhone or modern Android, open the camera app and point it at the code — a notification appears that you tap to open. No separate scanner app is needed. If nothing appears, make sure QR scanning is enabled in your camera settings and that the whole code, including the white margin around it, is inside the frame.
