Independent comparisons

AI home design tools, compared honestly

We make one of these products, so read these pages as an interested party arguing its case. What makes them worth reading anyway is that every claim is checkable: each comparison comes from the competitor's own site, is dated, and lists what they genuinely do better — including one page where they beat us outright on the headline feature.

All competitor details checked on 14 August 2026. We are not affiliated with any company listed here; all trademarks belong to their owners.

RoomGPT alternative

roomgpt.io

RoomGPT is the tool that made AI interior redesign mainstream. It does one job — restyle a room from a photo — and it does it with almost no interface. If you want anything beyond that single job, or you do not want to hand over a Google account before you can try it, this is where the two diverge.

InteriorAI alternative

interiorai.com

InteriorAI is one of the most established names in AI interior design and has built the largest deliberately programmatic content footprint in the category — roughly 905 programmatic pages out of 927 total, mostly style and room combinations. It is a serious, well-executed interiors product. The comparison is about scope and about what happens after the render.

mnml.ai alternative

mnml.ai

mnml.ai is aimed squarely at architects and designers, and it is the most structurally aggressive site in this category by a wide margin — roughly 732,000 indexed URLs, the overwhelming majority of which are user generations turned into public pages. That mechanism is why they rank, and it is also the single most important thing to understand before you upload a client project.

Virtual Staging AI alternative

virtualstagingai.app / virtualstaging.ai

Before comparing anything, know that "Virtual Staging AI" is not one company. At least three separate businesses trade under near-identical names, with different owners, different products and very different pricing. Picking the wrong one is the most common mistake in this corner of the market.

HomeDesign.AI alternative

home-design.ai

HomeDesign.AI is a broad, well-built home design product with an unusually wide tool list. It shares a codebase and a pricing ladder with floor-plan.ai — same platform, two verticals. Two of its headline features are worth examining before they influence your choice.

Floor-Plan.AI alternative

floor-plan.ai

This is the one comparison where the competitor is clearly ahead on the headline feature. Floor-Plan.AI is a specialist with deeper plan tooling than ours, including CAD export. If a measured, editable floor plan is what you need, they are the better tool and you should use them. If the plan is one part of a whole-property project, the comparison changes.

Dehome.ai alternative

dehome.ai

Dehome.ai is a small, tidy product: roughly 43 pages, one tool per URL, a consistent page skeleton and the tool embedded directly on the page. It is easy to use and easy to understand. It is also small in ways that matter once a project gets going.

How to choose, in four questions

Can you try it on your own photo first? This is the single most useful filter. Output quality in this category depends far more on your input image than on any feature list — a model that renders a magazine interior beautifully can fall apart on a real phone photo taken at head height in a dim room. Several of the tools here require payment or a Google sign-in before you see anything.

Does the tool cover the whole job, or one step of it? Most projects do not stay inside one room. A redesign leads to questions about the floor, the exterior colour, the yard and the cost. A listing needs staging, decluttering, a clean kerb shot and a good hero image. Specialists do one step well and stop.

What happens to what you upload? At least one major tool in this category builds its search presence by publishing user generations as public pages, with the prompt as the page title. That is fine for an experiment and a serious problem for client work under an NDA. Read the terms before you upload.

Do you need a picture or a document? Every AI tool here, ours included, produces visualisations. If you need a measured, dimensioned, exportable floor plan you can hand to a builder, you need a CAD-capable product, and we say so plainly on the Floor-Plan.AI page.

Common questions

What is the best AI home design tool?+

It depends on the job. For interiors only with the deepest style library, InteriorAI is strong. For architectural rendering, mnml.ai is built for professionals. For measured, exportable floor plans, Floor-Plan.AI is genuinely ahead of us. For a whole property — interiors, exteriors, paint, landscaping, staging, photo cleanup and analysis on one account — that is what AI Two is built for.

Which AI design tools are free to try?+

Fewer than you would expect. RoomGPT requires a Google sign-in before you can generate anything. HomeDesign.AI and Floor-Plan.AI start at a paid tier with no free trial. virtualstagingai.app lets you try before signing up. AI Two gives free credits on signup with no card and no Google account requirement.

Are these comparisons biased?+

We make one of these products, so treat the pages as an interested party arguing its case — but a checkable one. Every competitor claim comes from their own site, is dated, and every page lists what the competitor genuinely does better, including one where they beat us outright on the headline feature.

Do you have any affiliation with these companies?+

None. These are independent comparisons and every trademark belongs to its owner. Details were checked on 14 August 2026 and products change, so verify anything decision-critical on the vendor's own site.
