Walter Writes AI (walterwrites.ai) has been gaining traction as an AI humanizer and AI detector tool. But does it actually deliver? We put it through real-world testing to find out.

What is Walter Writes AI?

WalterWrites is an AI tool that offers two main features: an AI text humanizer and an AI content detector. The platform positions itself as a way to make AI-generated text undetectable while also letting you check if text is AI-written.

The site has grown quickly, ranking for keywords like "ai humanizer," "bypass turnitin," and various competitor brand names. But ranking for keywords and actually delivering results are two different things.

Our Testing Methodology

We generated 5 different texts using ChatGPT-4o across different topics (essay, blog post, product description, email, research summary). Then we ran each through WalterWrites' humanizer and tested the output with:

  • GPTZero
  • Originality AI
  • Turnitin (via a test account)
  • ZeroGPT

Results Summary

WalterWrites performed reasonably well on shorter texts (under 300 words). The humanized output passed GPTZero and ZeroGPT most of the time. But longer academic texts still got flagged by Originality AI and Turnitin in 3 out of 5 tests.

The main issue? Sentence length variation. While WalterWrites does change vocabulary, the burstiness of the output still falls in the "possibly AI" range on stricter detectors.

Pricing

WalterWrites offers limited free uses, then requires a paid subscription. Pricing starts around $10-15/month depending on the plan. That's not unusual for this space, but it adds up.

WalterWrites AI vs AiTwo Humanizer

Our free AI humanizer uses Claude 4.5 Sonnet with a specialized system prompt focused on maximizing both perplexity and burstiness — the two signals AI detectors actually measure. In our head-to-head tests, AiTwo's output scored higher "human" scores on all four detectors.

Plus, AiTwo offers 10 free daily uses with no sign-up. WalterWrites' free tier is more limited.

Verdict

WalterWrites AI is a decent tool for casual use. It works fine for short social media posts or emails. But for academic essays, long-form content, or anything that needs to pass strict detectors like Turnitin or Originality AI, you'll want something more sophisticated.
